Mortgage industry trade groups have once again urged Congress to not allow the use of g-fees to fund non-housing-related activities.

Wells Fargo Securities analysts said if there is going to be a hike in g-fees, it’s likely to be instigated by FHFA Director Mark Calabria.

The new products will allow Fannie to shed some of its credit risk and also reduce the amount of capital it has to hold against these loans.

Even as the percentage of GSE high-DTI loans fell, an odd thing happened: The actual dollar volume of these assets surged.
