FHA production of mortgages with loan amounts exceeding $417,000 rose to $4.8 billion during the first three months of 2012, according to Inside FHA Lendings analysis of FHA data. The FHA posted a significant 21.1 percent increase in agency jumbo production from the fourth quarter of 2011, offsetting the 17.9 percent drop in production year over year. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau reopened the comment period last week on the pending ability-to-repay rule, with an emphasis on data relating to debt-to-income ratios. Most major non-agency servicers met the June 1 deadline for the start of Tier 2 of the Home Affordable Modification Program, according to the Treasury Department. While overall HAMP performance has improved, some non-agency servicers have more improvements to make.
