GSE Credit-Risk Transfers Keep Chugging Along in 3Q16, Bank of America Merrill Lynch Tops in Underwriting

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac sold $3.78 billion of credit-risk transfer bonds during the third quarter, a 7.8 percent increase from the previous period, according to a new Inside MBS & ABS analysis of CRT disclosures made by the two government-sponsored enterprises. The Structured Finance Industry Group is preparing to publish standards that aim to increase transparency for representations and warranties on new non-agency MBS, according to officials at the trade group. RBS, State Of Connecticut Reach $120 Million Settlement Agreement over Legacy RMBS

RBS Securities has agreed to pay $120 million to the state of Connecticut to resolve an investigation into its underwriting of residential MBS shortly before the 2008 collapse of the financial markets. Private mortgage insurers are quietly gaining ground on their government-insured rivals in the critical home-purchase market, according to a new Inside Mortgage Trends analysis of agency mortgage-backed securities data.
