Groups Push Use of Ginnie, FHA Profits in LMI Housing

Housing advocates campaigned on Capitol Hill last week for legislation that would tap surplus funds in two federal housing programs to subsidize affordable housing. Bills pending in the House Committee on Financial Services and in the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs would create a "national housing trust fund" using Ginnie Mae and FHA profits to fund low-income housing.
