Mortgage ABS, MBS Investors Generally Shielded From War Impact, Analysts Say

While war with Iraq is likely to prove bad for Saddam Hussein, it could give a boost to some sectors of the asset- and mortgage-backed securities markets. With the invasion of Iraq underway, “the U.S. ABS market shows no signs of weakening,” said Peter DiMartino, managing director of ABS strategy and research at RBS Greenwich Capital, in a new outlook. Concerns about the war’s
