The world of Internet banks has been wrought with dismal performance. Among them was a tiny one named NetBank, which, until last year, offered unremarkable plain vanilla financial services. Until last year, it had almost no borrowers. The 6-year-old bank, which claims to be the largest independent Internet bank in the country, now finds itself among the top 20 wholesale mortgage lenders.
