The Department of Housing and Urban Development is planning to train and certify hundreds of investigators in federally funded housing assistance programs to investigate alleged violations of federal fair lending and fair housing laws. Some 500 full-time and many more part-time investigators currently employed by state and local housing agencies under HUD’s Federal Housing Assistance Program, or FHAP, will be required to train and obtain certification.
