Mortgage lenders are asking the Bush administration to consider alternatives to a final rule now under executive review that would make lenders accountable for faulty appraisals made on mortgages insured by the Federal Housing Administration. Representatives of five industry trade groups met with Office of Management and Budget and the Department of Housing and Urban Development officials on March 2 to lay out industry concerns about the rule currently under review at the OMB.
