Advocates for Native American housing have asked the Federal Reserve Board to expand Home Mortgage Disclosure Act data collection to include mortgage lending to American Indians who purchase a home on tribal or trust lands. Commenting on the Fed’s proposed changes to HMDA's implementing regulation, Chester Carl, chairman of the National American Indian Housing Council, emphasized the need to track home lending to Native Americans for any evidence of lending discrimination.
