African American lawmakers are urging the Federal Housing Finance Board to do careful analysis before allowing the 12 Federal Home Loan Banks to engage in securitization of mortgages. The Congressional Black Caucus warned FHFB Chairman John Korsmo in a letter last month that expanding the banks’ housing mission into mortgage securitization requires Congress’ approval.
