Lenders are worried that a controversial mortgage reform proposal will create an uneven playing field while ratcheting up the costs of doing business. Published in the July 29 Federal Register, the rule proposed by the Department of Housing and Urban Development would overhaul the disclosures required by the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act.
