The simmering controversy over proposed retained earnings/excess stock requirements for the Federal Home Loan Banks may come to a boil this week, when a Congressional panel holds a hearing to dig more deeply into it and other issues facing the Federal Housing Finance Board. The House Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Insurance, and Government-Sponsored Enterprises, chaired by Rep. Richard Baker, R-LA, plans to hold the hearing during the morning of Thursday, Sept. 7. Finance Board Chairman Ronald Rosenfeld is reportedly the prime witness scheduled to testify.
