The Department of Housing and Urban Development this week modified its rules on FHA closing costs in a move designed to better “align its business process with industry practice.” Mortgage Letter 2006-04 eliminated an existing list of specific fees that FHA lenders can charge borrowers, for items such as appraisals, inspections and credit reports.
