The Department of Housing and Urban Development this week belatedly announced that that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac exceeded all their 2004 affordable housing goals. And if the two government-sponsored enterprises can abide by HUD’s rules, they appear likely to be in compliance with this year’s tougher targets.
