The Department of Housing and Urban Development has extended the freeze on all pending FHA foreclosures in areas hardest hit by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The latest instructions from HUD Secretary Alphonso Jackson will affect presidentially declared disaster areas, whose residents immediately qualify for federal assistance.
