Smaller banks and thrifts are increasingly selling their loans to wholesalers rather than Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, according to a new survey done by America’s Community Bankers. The institutions reported that they made 35 percent of their total loan sales to wholesalers and conduits last year, up from 22 percent in the previous annual survey.
