Federal thrifts outsourcing mortgage-related functions to a domestic or foreign provider must make clear in their contracts that third-party services are subject to federal audit, according to the Office of Thrift Supervision. A thrift’s use of a third-party service provider should not bar or limit OTS examiners’ ability to secure critical data, the agency warned in Thrift Bulletin 82a, which provides guidelines for outsourcing.
