Details are sketchy, but it looks like the Department of Housing and Urban Development is inching forward with a plan to open up more information about Fannie’s and Freddie’s mortgage business to public scrutiny. The Office of Management and Budget reported that it has approved an order submitted by HUD late last month that would reclassify certain information gathered from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac as “nonproprietary” and suitable for release to the public. The data
