The Department of Housing and Urban Development is looking at ways to improve two major components of the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act rule that HUD Secretary Alphonso Jackson spiked last March, according to an industry group. Officials with the settlement services industry trade group Real Estate Services Providers Council said there are indications that HUD still intends to make the good faith estimate more binding and to provide incentives for “guaranteed mortgage packaging.
