Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are reporting record usage for their automated underwriting systems for 2001. Freddie Mac recently announced that lenders and brokers used its Loan Prospector automated underwriting system to process more than 7.3 million loan applications in 2001, a near doubling of the 3.8 million loans processed in 2000.
