Two companies recently have introduced ambitious alternatives to traditional title insurance, saying that their products reduce title fees greatly. Last month, Residential Funding Corp, Minneapolis, rolled out its abbreviated title search product through its subsidiary Homecomings Financial. The new title program is supposed to save time and cost because of its streamlined form and the e-commerce technology employed, reducing title insurance costs by one-third.
