The U.S. Senate is close to invoking a cloture vote to bring fair credit reporting legislation to the floor despite efforts by two California senators to stop it. Mortgage lenders have been urging lawmakers to pass S. 1753, the “National Consumer Credit Reporting System Improvement Act of 2003,” without amendments and move rapidly to a conference with the House. But whether
