Mortgage servicing activity in the commercial bank and thrift industries remained very concentrated at the top in 2001, according to an Inside Mortgage Finance analysis of depository institution call report data. Wells Fargo remained the largest commercial banking enterprise in the mortgage servicing business, with some $543.84 billion in loans under its administration as of the end of last year.
