The Department of Housing and Urban Development is studying possible solutions to improving the allocation of staff resources at its four regional homeownership centers that handle most of the agency’s FHA single-family mortgage insurance activities. Although the four processing centers have resulted in greater efficiency, improved customer service and more consistency, they have been hampered by staffing problems and have not reached their full potential, according to a new report from the General Accounting Office.
