Wells Fargo has been sued in Maryland state circuit court for allegedly collecting mortgage registration fees in violation of state law that exempts refinances from recordation taxes. In the class action lawsuit filed Sept. 23 in Baltimore County circuit court, Wells Fargo was accused of illegally charging Maryland refi borrowers for mortgage registration, neither accounting nor documenting the exemption.
