A comprehensive proposal to reform the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act is advancing toward an early summer release, even though the Department of Housing and Urban Development had planned for a tentative August issuance. Talking to reporters after last week’s remarks to the U.S. Conference of Mayors, HUD Secretary Mel Martinez said the RESPA proposal may be out in the “next few weeks or so” for a six-month comment period.
