Financial institutions’ efforts to comply with the new financial privacy law came up short as fewer consumers than expected opted out of information sharing, according to the National Association of Attorneys General. Citing industry surveys, the NAAG said that only 5 percent of the millions of consumers that received privacy notices exercised their right to keep their personal information from being shared with third party affiliates.
