Securitization volume in the multifamily mortgage business was sluggish in the first quarter of 2003, despite a very robust commercial mortgage-backed securities market. According to data compiled by Inside MBS & ABS, total securitization of multifamily mortgages was just $4.56 billion in the first three months of this year, down sharply from the levels set since the middle of 2000.
