Officials with the American Enterprise Institute said they are optimistic that they can get someone in Congress to introduce a GSE privatization bill – even if the proposal only produces more debate on Capitol Hill. Peter Wallison, resident fellow at AEI and the co-director of its program on financial market deregulation, said he plans to speak with several members of Congress about draft privatization legislation that was unveiled last week at an AEI conference.
