The Federal Home Loan Bank system came away rather unscathed from an oversight hearing on Capitol Hill last week that many observers believe was scheduled at the behest of FHLBank critics. “I don’t think any new ground was covered and I don’t think any old issues were resolved,” said one observer, who asked not to be named. “I doubt that there’s any impetus for legislation [to restrict FHLBank activities] coming out of that hearing.
