Three months ago, author John Talbott warned in The Coming Crash of the Housing Market that poor oversight and inscrutable bookkeeping at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac could cause serious problems for the mortgage industry. He just couldn’t know exactly how or when these problems would erupt. Talbott knows now, he said during an interview last week, and he believes more trouble lies ahead for Freddie and its sister GSE.
