It has never been easy to find people who want to be GSE regulators. It apparently also is not particularly easy to get them confirmed and into their regulatory posts once you find them. Two cases in point are Diana Furchtgott-Roth’s ill fated bid to join the Federal Housing Finance Board, and to a lesser extent, Mark Brickell’s more recent move to take over the reins at the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight.
