With just a month remaining in the year, it appears that Fannie Mae’s and Freddie Mac’s debt issuance in 2002 will come in slightly below 2001’s level. Through the first 10 months of the year, Fannie had issued $1.56 trillion in both short-term and long-term debt. This compared to just over $2 trillion issued in all of last year.
