Both Fannie and Freddie seem to be taking credit for independently coming up with the idea of voluntary SEC disclosures. One story is that Fannie Chairman Franklin Raines six weeks ago personally proposed the idea to SEC Chairman Harvey Pitt and Treasury Secretary Paul O’Neill. They both liked the idea, the report goes, and a series of meetings led to last week’s announcement.
