Subprime lenders looking for anti-abuse legislation that would preempt state and local laws could get some help from an unlikely source: a Congressional Democrat. Inside B&C Lending has learned that legislation slated to be introduced soon by Rep. Paul Kanjorski, D-PA, will include preemption language, though the language may not be as broad as what the industry says it wants.
