A long-time securitizer of subprime mortgages is locked in a legal dispute with the firm that manages some of its residuals. The legal tussle between Delta Financial corp. and Delta Funding Residential Management is something of a first for the industry: in effect, the management of a special purpose entity wants the company that created it to pay compensation for writedowns of assets that were transferred to it.
