Fannie Mae has thrown its weight behind the concept of a federal solution to the predatory lending problem. But officials at the government-sponsored enterprise caution that they haven’t endorsed any particular legislation. Fannie’s call for a national solution came in a speech that Chairman and CEO Franklin Raines made last week at a conference sponsored by the AARP’s Public Policy Institute.
