New York. The State Department of Banking is encouraging state-chartered and licensed financial institutions to do all they can within safety and soundness limits to help borrowers who have been affected by the recent flooding in 13 New York counties. State regulators urged supervised lenders to help by altering or adjusting payment terms, waiving fees under extraordinary circumstances, or granting new loans to borrowers affected by the flooding.
