Consumer advocacy groups called upon Senate lawmakers earlier this month to update certain consumer protection laws and eliminate harmful provisions from regulatory relief proposals under consideration by Congress. In joint testimony before the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Development, representatives of seven consumer and community advocacy groups asked for a “fair bill that includes regulatory measures that benefit consumers.”
