The Mortgage Bankers Association and other financial industry trade groups called for interim bankruptcy regulations that will provide for a standardized approach to the needs-based test for Chapter 7 eligibility. The industry coalition urged the Committee on Rules of Practice and Procedure and the Advisory Committee on Bankruptcy Rules to ensure that interim rules, as well as the forms for calculating Chapter 7 eligibility, reflect Congress’ intent to provide for a standard needs-based test.
