The American Financial Services Association and a group of mortgage brokers have gone to court to attempt to block a Maryland county ordinance that ties predatory lending to discrimination. At issue is an ordinance enacted last year by Montgomery County, a Washington, DC suburb. The ordinance takes a different tack than most state and local predatory lending laws in that it amends the county’s existing fair housing protections to define a number of loan terms
