Nonprime lenders reported generally good earnings, at least in terms of year-to-year gain, during the fourth quarter. But late 2005 and the early part of 2006 also found lenders taking a hard look at their strategies, in some cases, looking for ways to become more efficient and in others, building on what they see as key advantages.
