Salary and overtime issues continue to plague the mortgage industry despite the Department of Labor’s new overtime regulations that went into effect in August 2004. Overtime questions are not only being raised on the federal level but also on the state level, where state agencies continue to pound the mortgage industry with audits of lender classifications of individuals as “exempt” from minimum wage and overtime requirements, compliance experts say.
