Interest rate increases could slow the growth of the adjustable-rate mortgage market in 2006, experts say. But lenders appear already to be bracing for that possibility with new fixed-rate products that they say will help borrowers avoid the potential for nasty payment shock while making it easier for loan officers and brokers to sell products in a competitive market.
