Federally chartered savings and loan institutions got some warning from their primary regulator, the Office of Thrift Supervision, to limit their risk exposure to interest-only and option ARMs products. In recent remarks to the Community Bankers Association of New York, OTS Director John Reich warned thrifts to approach new, exotic mortgage products with caution and with thorough due diligence.
