Fannie Mae registered its best quarter of the year in new business volume during the third quarter, and retained a slight lead over Freddie Mac in the agency market. According to recent data, Fannie garnered $181.05 billion in new business volume during 3Q05. That gave the larger government-sponsored enterprise 52.6 percent of the GSE market, while Freddie had to settle for 47.9 percent – notching $166.71 billion in new business.
