Regulators have stepped up their calls for lenders to use caution when originating alternative loans. In the past week, senior officials at two bank regulatory agencies, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, have reiterated concerns about the risks associated with a range of non-traditional products, particularly interest-only loans and option adjustable-rate mortgages.
