The Federal Reserve Board said it expects lenders to take prudent steps to adjust or alter the terms of loans in areas affected by the disaster. “Such cooperative efforts can ease pressures on troubled borrowers, improve their capacity to service debt, and strengthen the banking organization’s ability to collect on its loans,” the agency said in a supervisory letter.
