Fixed-rate loans are becoming an increasingly large part of the non-agency mortgage market, a new report by investment bank Bear Stearns suggests – and next year, conditions could be ripe for the product to explode. One of the most recent product iterations to hit the alternative mortgage market, fixed-rate IOs provide a way for borrowers to reap affordability benefits while avoiding the potential for double payment shock – one of the major risk factors
