None of several alternative methods that banking regulators tested recently appear able to reduce costs or provide accuracy in targeting fair lending audits, according to a new study evaluating such strategies. Federal regulators need to develop a system that can best identify actual incidents of lending discrimination in a more accurate but less costly way, according to the study’s author, Jason Dietrich.
